The last day of the 2021 season has arrived. The day started cold but we where in a good mood. The sun was shining and I wanted to continue my work on the Honda even more. The first session I’m always careful and today was not different. Lots of riders passed me like I was staning still. The track was still cold and I didn’t felt the grip and therefore I took it “slowly”.

The second session and all that where to come was a different story. I saw that a 600cc bike could make much faster laptimes that I have ever ridden so I tried to dial down the power of the engine, went from power level 1 to 3 (5 is the lowest) and tried to make up for the loss with corner speed, corner exit (sooner opening the throttle) and much later breaking. And to my surprise it worked! I felt much more comfortable on the exit with the grip and engine power to open up the throttle faster and wider. Resulting that the most 1000cc bikes I even overtook on the straight speed and not because of the brute power the bike has but just getting through the corner with more speed. Also my confidence level got better on it.

At the 3rd session I felt that breaking was not going to good anymore. The result break pads totally gone 😅, I brought a new set and the change was quickly done. In the next session (4th) it needed 2 laps to break them in and the power I had from the Brembo brakes was awesome again.

The very last session there was very briefly a red flag but we could continue after a minute or so. With about 15~20 riders in front of me and my mate we started the catchup game! We only needed 2 laps to catch them all 🤗. The last session was for most riders not the fastest one but I got a 3rd overall time 💪💪💪. Other sessions I was in the top 10 of the day so I was very pleased with my overall performance and had a lot of fun.

Making the laps became easier and easier and overtaking other riders made me ride lines I thought I couldn’t ride but I did them with ease. Happy with the fantastic bike and with my improvements this season.

Unfortunately we have to wait several month for the winter to pass again but can’t wait to start 2022!
